How is a tummy tuck performed?

A standard tummy tuck is performed by making an incision along the bikini line between the hips. Skin and tissues are lifted off of the abdomen and  the muscles are tightened to create a tight internal corset. Skin is then redraped and removed from the belly button down. A new belly button is created using an advanced technique for a natural appearance. Depending on the amount of skin laxity, some patients may only require a mini-tummy tuck which tightens the abdomen and only removes a minimal amount of skin, without needing to re-create the belly button. When skin laxity extends further around the mid-section, incisions can be extended to better contour the body. Many Los Angeles tummy tuck patients also opt for liposuction during their procedure to help achieve the best results.
