john walker, M.D. - Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Becoming a cosmetic & Plastic surgeon was the natural evolution of my background, interests, aptitudes and enthusiasm. My career goal is, and has been to become a well-trained cosmetic and plastic surgeon, capable of excellence in both clinical patient care and clinical research tin the hope of advancing Medical Science.
I was born and raised in South Africa, and was inspired from an early age by my Father who was an architect and my Mother who was an art & architectural historian. I was drawn to the health sciences, entered medical school at 18, and soon became interested in a surgical career. I was drawn to plastic surgery because of its diversity, intellectual challenges and technical demands. I was also fascinated by the artistry and design elements of the specialty.
I was admitted into a Plastic Surgery residency in South Africa, where I gained a considerable depth of experience in basic plastic surgery techniques at an early stage. During the following few years of residency training I was exposed to reconstructive surgery, head and neck, burn, microsurgery and Cosmetic surgery.
I remain fascinated in the artistry of cosmetic surgery, in the pursuit of the curve, rather than the flat, the intriguing, rather than the boring. I always give my patients my fullest attention, aiming to satisfy their individual needs, treating each person as unique, with their own set of demands, and expectations from life.
I care deeply about my results, hoping that all my patients stay lifelong clients, and hopefully friends. I am proud to say I am a member of a team of staff who all strive to pursue excellence.
