A blog post titled “Senior Sex Kitten” on the Lipstick Chronicles blog, says that “Cougars” are back in the news.
No, we don’t mean mountain lions.
“Cougars” are very lovely, shapely older women – all of whom have had cosmetic and plastic surgery. It also helps that most are financially independent.
The first use of the word “Cougar” in that connection was on the television show, Real Housewives of Orange County, at least, according to our mature blogger.
Of course, the older woman-younger man concept has been around a while; it was first seen in the 1967 movie, The Graduate, when a 40-plus Mrs. Robinson got to know – in the biblical sense – a 21-year-old college grad played by Dustin Hoffman.
The trend was later enhanced by the movie Ocean’s 13 as a 54-year-old Ellen Barkin and 38-year-old Matt Damon become an item. At least on screen.
Today, with all that is known about nutrition, exercise and rejuvenation surgery, Cougars are typically in their 40s, 50s and 60s. A website, GoCougar, helps these women keep their appearances fresh so they are more appealing to younger men.
Current Cougar examples include Cher and Dimi Moore, 50+ women who, because they look anywhere from 15 to 25 years younger, have become involved with — and sometimes marry — much younger guys.
In addition to spending considerable time working out, any self-respecting Cougar is likely to have invested in plastic and cosmetic procedures including:
Cougars may also be interested in eyelid surgery, brow and neck surgery and other skin rejuvenation procedures like Botox, dermabrasion and facial fillers like Restylane and Radiance.
Newport Beach, one of the most posh locations in the greater Los Angeles Metro area, reportedly has gathering spots for Cougars where they track the issues important to them.
You can bet they are all current on which plastic surgeons are the best!
Despite the trend, any plastic surgeon will ask you to have realistic expectations about your surgery. That means if you are 50, the surgeon probably won’t be able to make you look like you did at 20.
But the surgeon can make you look like the best possible version of yourself!
Who is your favorite Cougar? Cher? Madonna?
