Cosmetic plastic surgery procedures – according to research — are increasingly being seen by women in the nation’s workforce as a way to:
- Land a job
- Get ahead once you’ve got the gig
However, back in 2007, the number one reason for a women having cosmetic surgery almost always involved something to do with catching a man.
But more recently, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) took a telephone poll of 756 women between the ages of 18 and 64 and specifically asked about the connection between rejuvenation surgery and working.
Results included:
- 13 percent who said they just might have a nip and tuck to look better in the workplace.
- 3 percent said they already done just that
- 73 percent agreed that youthful looks play a part in getting hired and doing well on the job.
- 80 percent agreed that plastic surgery can boost your confidence
Of course, this knowledge does not mean call up the first plastic surgeon listed in the yellow pages and book an appointment. Cosmetic surgery might make you a better fit in a particular workplace but the process is surgery nonetheless and deserves more than asking who did your Aunt Sally’s friend’s son face lift.
Things you want to check include:
- The surgeons’ before and after plastic surgery pictures. (Hint: there should be many of the procedure you want.)
- A particular surgeon’s level of training. (Hint: look for board certification in plastic surgery, head and neck surgery, a field technically known as otolaryngology.)
The procedures that tend to produce the most bang for the buck include:
- Liquid facial fillers and wrinkle removers
Botox, Juvederm and Restylane are among the products producing fast, fast results at a very reasonable cost.
- Eyelid lifts
The eyes are the center of the face. If your eyelids are drooping over your eyes, they may give you a hang dog appearance.
The only fix, however, is surgical The eyelid lift or eye bag removal, technically known as blepharoplasty, usually is:
- very reasonable (average U.S. surgeon fee: $2717)
- long lasting and allows you to go back to work within ten days
- often done in surgeons’ office under local anesthesia
- compatible with going back on the job within five to ten days.
