The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) studied the most common plastic surgery procedures by regions of the nation.

Scientists are not sure why (are bad roads or higher taxes causing people to tear their hair out?) but 48% of procedures are hair transplants in:

• Alabama
• Kentucky
• Mississippi
• Tennessee
• Arkansas
• Louisiana
• Oklahoma
• Texas

Harsh winters and many hours spent inside may account for 30% of plastic surgery procedures being gynecomastia and lower body lifts in:

• Maine
• Vermont
• New Hampshire
• Massachusetts
• Rhode Island
• Connecticut

We think more stylishly attired Easterners drive this next statistic. Some surgeons dispute it, but 25% of all procedures in the following states are buttocks augmentation:

• Delaware
• Washington, D.C.
• Florida
• Georgia
• Virginia
• West Virginia
• Maryland
• North and South Carolina

Some people don’t know which end to concentrate on but the buttock lift (30%) and dermabrasion (29%) are the big procedures in:

• Wisconsin
• Ohio
• Michigan
• Illinois
• North and South Dakota
• Nebraska
• Missouri
• Iowa
• Kansas

Moving west, the breast augmentation, at 37% of procedures, is the hands-down leader in:

• Arizona
• Colorado
• Idaho
• Montana
• Nevada
• New Mexico
• Utah
• Wyoming
• California
• Oregon
• Washington
• Hawaii
• Alaska

Following closely behind in the states above is:

• Forehead lifts, 37%
• Chin augmentation, 35%
• Eyelid surgery, liposuction, face lift, pectoral implants, breast implant removals and tummy tucks.
