Plastic Surgery Contest Update
Back in August, we told you about a Hungarian beauty contest – but only for women who have had plastic surgery.
(Read our last post about Miss Plastic Surgery.)
Well, the contest came off as planned last October. You could say it was truly a night for unnatural beauties – although nobody could tell!
And is that not the mark of good plastic surgery? People can see the person has undergone some change — perhaps losing weight, working out much more or being madly in love. But observers just can’t put a finger on the exact change that is making you look so good.
Nonetheless, had you asked any of the Hungarian contestants, they would have gladly announced which had:
- Breast augmentation
- Rhinoplasty
- Face lift
Why such a specialized contest?
Plastic surgery in Hungary is about at the point where the specialty was in America 25 years ago: you just do not mention it in polite society.
The entrants not only filled out and sent in an application with their picture stapled to it. The 18 contestants had to prove they had some serious surgical rejuvenation procedures by showing before and after plastic surgery pictures. Although one woman had a foot facelift via surgically enhanced toes, most had breast enhancements and nose jobs.
One of the plastic surgeon organizers wanted to drive home the point that good cosmetic plastic surgery does not mean larger-than-life breasts, bulbous lips or facial skin stretched tighter than an overfilled balloon.
So the judges’ marching orders were to look for beauties who showed the most perfect harmony of the body.
The winner, Miss Plastic Hungary 2009 Rika Urban, 22, won a Budapest apartment.
The first runner up bagged a new car while the second runner up scored some jewelry worth about $10K. Hungarian plastic surgeons also gained – more patients became willing to at least ask about a procedure.
Said one cosmetic surgeon: “The contest is about restoring facial and body harmony and eliminating asymmetries while giving women the chance to have normal features.”
At the end of the day, isn’t that what every plastic surgery patient – woman or man — in the world wants?
