Better Eyelid Lifts with Eyelash Thickener in 2009!

Eyelid Surgery Comments (1)

Plastic surgeons usually say that eyelid surgery is one of the cosmetic plastic surgeries that provides a lot of bang for the buck.

The eyes – the central focal point of the face – look larger, more open and certainly more refreshed after an upper or lower eyelid lift.

Making it even more attractive, the procedure is:

  • not that pricey
  • can easily be done in the surgeon’s office
  • usually requires only local anesthetic

Moreover, recovery is usually faster with a quicker return to normal activities, including getting back to work sooner if  you are willing to wear a little concealing makeup.

(Guys! Cool it! The makeup is worn to hide a few bruises for only a few days and has a normal skin color. Nobody will think you’re going for an Alice Cooper look!)

Check out some eyelid lift before and after pictures and you’ll see a big difference in a face with enhanced eyelids.

Now, the F.D.A. has just approved a new prescription substance, Latisse, which is intended to make eyelashes thicker and darker. Offered by Allergan, the same firm that makes Natrell  breast implants and the nation’s most popular cosmetic treatment, Botox.

Allergan expects Latisse to be wildly successful although the product is a spin-off of the prescription glaucoma drug Luimigan.  After Luimigan was approved in 2001, patients started noticing their eyelashes became long, thicker and darker.

Now, Allergan says Latisse will be great for skinny eye winkers, even though it only contains five percent Lumimigan. Read more about the product on plastic surgeon Rob Oliver, M.D.’s excellent Plastic Surgery 101 blog.

Instead of using an applicator like when applying mascara, Latisse is applied in drops to the edges of the eyelids. You’ll need a prescription for it, too.

Once the drug is being sold, ask your surgeon if you can use Latisse after an eyelid lift!

What problems do you have applying mascara?
